First Health Prescription Drug Plan

What does 50 % coinsurance after deductible mean?

Hi, I need to change my health insurance. I am looking at a plan that has a $2,000 deductible. Regarding prescription drugs it says: Brand prescription drugs 50% coinsurance after deductible. Does this mean I would have to pay the deductible first and then still 50 % of the brand prescription? Thanks for your help.

~~Yes it means after you have paid your annual $2,000.00 deductible then you would have to pay half of the “contracted rate” on your prescriptions.

I highlight the contracted rate because it is important to remember insurance companies have negotiated rates for all medications. Therefore it isn’t the cash amount of the RX you would pay, it is half of the contracted rate.~~
