Canada Health Insurance For Visitors

My american fiancee is expecting in August and she’s in Canada right now and we can’t find any insurance 4 her?
Ok, so, my fiancee (she’s american. I’m Canadian. We’re in Canada) is pregnant and we can’t find health insurance that covers maternity. We need help finding maternity health insurance (I think that’s what it’s called). We’re in Ontario Canada. The only ones we’ve found said that we had to be with them for a year in order for them to cover any charges that we’ll get when the baby is born. It’s causing a LOT of stress because we’ve been looking for over a month now and can’t find anything. If you can help us out a bit, it would be greatly appreciated. Oh, and she’s here in Canada on a visitor extension and our lawyer told us to NOT go across the border until the visitor extension papers come back to us (otherwise they’ll more than likely deny her reentry to canada when she tries to return here). So she pretty much can’t return to the states to get medicaid. @_@ We’re in a perdicament and we need help.
Thanx.
Ontario doesn’t have insurance plans they have ohip but because she’s a amercian citizen she has to become a canadian citizen to apply for it. You should call ohip and they can direct you with further information. Good luck
