Obama Healthcare Reform?

Judging from everything that has been reported so far, would Obama’s health care reform forced doctors to be employees of the government (similar to Europe and Canada)? Or will doctors still be independent contractors, but the government will act like one big insurance company, albeit with better premiums?
I think the better the way is to control the staggering malpractice rates of physicians. This is the reason why hospitals advise their docs to be “extra sure” of their diagnosis, which means more expensives and potential unnecessary tests.

First of all, Obama is not going to bring in universal health-care. He wants to make insurance more available to all.

Second, of course universal health-cover sucks. That is why we in Western Europe have it. We think, hmm, our health-care system sucks. I know, lets keep it. I guess that is the same with Japan and Canada as well.

FACT – the USA spends more on health-care PER PERSON than any other nation on the planet.

FACT – the US has higher death rates for kids aged under five than western European countries with universal health coverage.

That means that a dead American four year old would have had a better chance of life if they were born in Canada, France, Cuba, Germany, Japan etc, all of which have universal health coverage.

So to answer your question, no, his reform is not to make doctors employees of the government. And malpractice costs are so high in the USA because the system is private. If you have a mistake made with your care that causes damage, then no insurance company will cover the effects of that damage, which means, in order to get decent healthcare, you need a huge payout.
